JV Bishops earn baseball split with Pitt and Rappahanock

Rocky Mount, NC - The JV baseball squad of North Carolina Wesleyan suffered its first loss of the season on Wednesday, falling to Pitt Community College by a 10-2 score at Bauer Field. The Bishops rebounded at home on Thursday by turning in a 9-5 victory over Rappahanock Community College thanks to a complete game effort by freshman hurler Max Knowles.

Daniel Moore was 2-for-4 in both games, while Ben Stewart delivered the big blow on Thursday. Stewart blasted his first homerun of the season in the first inning, a three-run shot that put Wesleyan on top. Like Moore, Stewart also finished 2-for-4 at the plate.

Knowles did the rest on the mound, going the distance and striking out four.

The JV Bishops have now wrapped up their 2008 slate with a 4-1 record.
