NCWC's Knowles named Cal Ripken League Pitcher of the Week

Rocky Mount, NC - In summer baseball action, North Carolina Wesleyan lefthander Max Knowles (pictured) earned Pitcher of the Week honors in the Cal Ripken League for the extended first week of 2010. Playing for the Alexandria Aces, Knowles won both of his starts, following up a seven-inning victory on Opening Night with a nine-inning shutout on June 9th.

Knowles allowed three runs on five hits and three walks and struck out three batters in the opener. He went on to scatter three hits and three walks while striking out six for his first shutout (and complete game) of the season on the 9th. Opponents hit just .154 off of him over the two-game span, and his earned run average currently sits at and impressive 1.69.
