Jordan passes for over 300 yards, NCWC downs Ferrum 41-14

Ferrum, VA - Junior Bo Jordan became the first North Carolina Wesleyan quarterback in program history to turn in a 300-yard passing game with his performance on Saturday at Ferrum College. Jordan (pictured) completed 18-of-26 attempts for a record 311 yards as his Battling Bishops cruised to a 41-14 victory over the Panthers on the road. With the win, Wesleyan improves to 5-4 overall, 4-2 in USA South action.

Jordan was not the only Bishop breaking records in the contest as freshman tailback Tyreck McFadden joined in on the action in what proved to be a decisive third quarter.  Tied 14-14 at the half, McFadden put distance between the Bishops and Panthers by recording three touchdowns in the period. He began with four- and three-yard runs before breaking loose for an 84-yard scamper that put Wesleyan on top 34-14 going into the fourth. The 84-yard run is the longest in Bishop history, while McFadden becomes just the fourth NCWC player to turn in three rushing TDs in a game.

Both teams managed a touchdown in the fourth.  The Bishops' came on a 70-yard TD strike from Jordan to sophomore wideout Laqwan Brodie.

In the first half, Wesleyan's Stedman Mathis and Ferrum's Mike Vann traded two rushing scores apiece to set up the 14-14 halftime tie.

McFadden finished with 147 rushing yards and Mathis 132 to pace the Bishops' ground attack. Through the air, junior Orlando Webb hauled in seven of Jordan's passes for 96 yards. On defense, freshman Alex Flores had a six tackles, while the Bishops tallied three sacks and three fumble recoveries as a team.

For the Panthers (7-2, 5-1 USAC), Vann finished with 143 rushing yards and two touchdowns, and Devin Genchi recorded a game-high 10 tackles defensely.

The Bishops set yet another offensive record with 600 total yards on offense in the contest.  Ferrum was limited to just 376 on the day.

Wesleyan will return home for their regular season finale next Saturday versus Greensboro College, a day that will also serve as Homecoming and Senior Day.
