South releases preseason coaches polls for spring sports
 Fayetteville, NC
- The USA South
Athletic Conference has announced its preseason coaches
polls for tennis, baseball, golf, lacrosse, and softball. Wesleyan's highest billing came with
men's tennis where the Bishops were picked to
defend their 2010 regular season crown. In baseball, NCWC
received one first place vote en route to a third place
finish, and in men's golf, the Bishops were tabbed fifth. On
the women's side, lacrosse was picked to finish sixth,
while tennis and softball were both chosen seventh.

Cole resigns

- Director of Athletics
John Thompson has announced the resignation of
Mark Cole as head golf coach at North Carolina Wesleyan
College. Cole, who guided the program for the past two
and a half seasons, recently informed Thompson of his
decision to
concentrate solely on his role as Associate Director of
Development for the College. In light
of Cole’s decision, Thompson has named David Doino
(pictured) interim head coach for the Battling
Bishops.

of the Week
award.
Idestal's
selection

league's

honor.
He was
chosen after
his solid
performance
at this
week's Tom &
Bettie
O'Briant
Memorial
Tournament
hosted by
Guilford
College
at the
Cardinal
Golf &
Country Club.

NCWC golfers wrap up
fall season at O'Briant Memorial Tourney
 Greensboro,
NC
- North Carolina Wesleyan's golf team
wrapped up its 2009 fall season on Monday and Tuesday at the
Tom and Bettie O'Briant Memorial Tournament hosted by
Guilford College. The two-day event was held at the par-70
Cardinal Golf & Country Club in Greensboro and featured 90
golfers among 17 teams. The 21st-ranked Bishops rebounded
from a day one 336 to shoot 312 on day two.

World / Nike Golf D-III Coaches Top-25

- The second Golf World/Nike Golf
Division III Coaches’ Poll of the fall season has been
released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine,
Nike Golf, and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
North Carolina Wesleyan and head coach Mark Cole are pleased
to announce that the Battling Bishops were tabbed #21 in the
nation, marking the first such ranking in program history.
