Bishops add men’s cross country,
name Ripke
head golf coach
Rocky
Mount, NC - The
North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics is
pleased to officially announce the addition of men’s
cross country to its list of intercollegiate sport
offerings, as well as the hiring of Gregg Ripke as head
coach of men’s golf. Ripke replaces interim golf coach
David Doino, who will be charged with starting up the
men’s cross country program this fall. With this
addition, Wesleyan now sponsors 14 varsity sports, seven
each for men and women.

Wesleyan golfers wrap up
season at USA South Championships
Burlington,
NC

For the eighth consecutive
year, Methodist University captured the USA South Men's Golf
Tournament title after the final day of play at Mill Creek
Golf Club near Burlington. The Monarchs earned a 50-stroke
victory over its closest competition, Greensboro College, in
the 54-hole event. The Battling
Bishops placed fifth in the seven-team tourney, carding
rounds of 325, 338, and 321.

All-Conference
awards for
baseball,
tennis,
softball, lacrosse
and golf. North Carolina Wesleyan had 24
athletes earn
recognition,
while six
Bishops were named to their respective All-Sportsmanship
teams. Among the 20
honorees, there
were four First
Team honorees, eight
Second Team
picks, three Third
Team selections, and nine
Honorable
Mentions.
Leading the way
were head
coaches Charlie Long and Dominic Modise, who each earned
Coach of the Year accolades for the second consecutive
season.

Idestal paces Bishop golfers
at Hurricane Fussilade Challenge
Louisburg,

-
North Carolina Wesleyan's
golf team competed on Sunday at Louisburg College's
Hurricane Fussilade Challenge, turning in a fifth place
finish. The two-round event was held at the par-72 River Golf Course
at Lake Royale and featured 53 players among eight teams.
Freshman Kristoffer Idestal (pictured) tied for 9th-place
after carding rounds of 77 and 76 for the Bishops, who
turned in a team score of 664 and finished well ahead of USA
South foe Shenandoah. more

Wesleyan golf team finishes
seventh at Marlin Invitational
Virginia
Beach, VA
- The Battling Bishop men's golf
team returned to action this weekend at VA Wesleyan's
Marlin Invitational and turned in a 7th-place finish among
the tournament's nine teams. The two-day event
was
held at the par-72, 6,876-yard Virginia Beach National Golf
Club and featured 46 total golfers. Mike Emerson
recorded the Bishops' highest finish, turning rounds of 78
and 80 for a two-day total of 158 (+14), while as a team, NCWC carded rounds of 352 and 330.
