Battling Bishop golfers compete at Barton College Dogfight

Rocky Mount, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan golf team competed in its second tournament of the fall on Monday and Tuesday, finishing in 10th place at Barton College's Dogfight held at Ford's Colony Rocky Mount. Of the 11 teams in the tournament, NCWC was the lone Division III institution, and of the 67 golfers registered, 14 competed as individuals.  Freshman Johannes Soini paced the Bishops with rounds of 79 and 76 to finish at 11-over par.

Other golfers scoring for Wesleyan were MIke Emerson (80-80), Andrew Smith (83-78), and Cole Brantner (87-80).  The Bishops carded team rounds of 329 and 314 for a two-day total of 643.

Host Barton and Mt. Olive tied for top team honors with two-day totals of 555. MOC went on to earn first place by defeating the Bulldogs in a one-hole, 10-man playoff. UNC Chapel Hill's Patrick Barrett took home medalist honors with rounds of 66 and 64 for a two-round total of 130 (-14). He was one of three Tar Heels to compete as an individual.

Wesleyan returns to action on October 27th and 28th at the Guilford College Invitational.  The event, which will be held at the Cardinal Golf and Country Club in Greensboro, will wrap up the Battling Bishops' fall season.
