Wesleyan golf competes at Hurricane Fusillade Challenge

Louisburg, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan golf team returned to action on Sunday and Monday at Louisburg College's Hurricane Fusillade Challenge. The nine-team tournament featured 47 golfers and was played at the Bull Creek Golf Club, a 71-par course in Louisburg, NC. Sophomore Todd Smith led the Battling Bishops with a team-best round of 75 on Sunday and finished with a two-day 158 (+16) to tie for 21st place. As a team, Wesleyan carded rounds of 333 and 334 for an 8th-place billing.

Other Bishops competing included sophomore Cole Brantner (90-80), freshman Karson Mott (83-87), and freshman Mike Emerson (86-84), who all finished at 28-over to tie for 36th place. Freshman Andrew Smith rounded out Wesleyan's competitors with a two-day 180 (89-91).

Host Louisburg took top team honors with rounds of 291 and 304 to finish at 27-over, while medalist honors went to Pitt Community College's Ryan Perkins who carded rounds of 70 and 72 to finish at +2.

Next up for the Battling Bishops is UNC Pembroke's Carolina Sands Intercollegiate. The two-day event will be held April 4th and 5th in White Lake, NC.
