NCWC golfers finish sixth
at 2008 USA South Championship

- Methodist University
captured its sixth straight USAS South Golf Championship
title and 27th overall at the Stoney Creek Golf Club on
Sunday. The Monarchs won the title based on the first two
days of the tournament as Sunday’s final round was
cancelled. North Carolina Wesleyan finished sixth, nine
strokes behind 5th-place Shenandoah University. Freshman
Cole Brantner (pictured) paced the Bishop with rounds of 83
and 81 to finished tied for 15th among the talented field of

South tennis and golf awards

NC - The USA South
Athletic Conference has announced its All-Conference awards
for tennis and golf with a total of 65
student-athletes garnering recognition. In men's tennis,
North Carolina Wesleyan had four players
receive accolades, highlighted by First Team selection and
Rookie of the Year Antti Saari. Freshman Jaime Galasso was a
Second Team women's selection, while Ryan Stugis earned
Second Team honors in golf.

South's Rookie of
the Week for April
9th. Stugis

at this past
weekend's Carolina
Sands
Intercollegiate with
a team-low round of
76 (+4). This is his
first award of the
season.

Wesleyan golf competes at
Carolina Sands Intercollegiate
Elizabethtown, NC
- For the second straight week,
North Carolina Wesleyan competed in a rain-shortened golf
tournament. Coming off a second place finish at last week's
one-round Don Scalf Invitational, the Bishops traveled to
Elizabethtown, NC for UNC Pembroke's Carolina Sands
Intercollegiate, which was also held to just one round.
Freshman Ryan Stugis paced NCWC with a 76, tying for 32nd
place. Wesleyan turned in a team score of 321 (+33) to
finish 17th in the field of 20.
