Wesleyan suffers heartbreaker in USA South semifinals, 83-81

Newport News, VA - The Bishop men's basketball team of North Carolina Wesleyan saw its 2007-08 season come to a heartbreaking end on Friday night, falling to Greensboro by an 83-81 score in the semifinals of the USA South Tournament. Leading 81-80 with 26 seconds remaining, Wesleyan saw its fourth straight game be decided inside of three seconds when the Pride's RJ Smith drained a three-pointer from the corner with one tick left on the clock. The Bishops finish the season with a 12-15 overall record and say farewell to seniors Lenny Hall and Jarvis Cobb. more >

Hall, Arrington, and Coleman earn USA South accolades

Fayetteville, NC - The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its post-season awards for men's basketball, and a total of 20 student-athletes have been named to the All-Conference teams.  North Carolina Wesleyan College is pleased to announce that senior Lenny Hall was named to the Second Team, while sophomore Jarmel Arrington was an Honorable Mention selection. Junior Adam Coleman rounded out Wesleyan's honorees with his placement on the All-Sportsmanship squad. more >

Hall's late-game heroics send Bishop men to semifinals

Danville, VA - For the second time in three games, senior Lenny Hall (pictured) provided his North Carolina Wesleyan men's basketball squad with some late-game heroics. Just two games ago, it was Hall that beat the buzzer with a game-winning lay-up at Averett University. Ironically, Wednesday night's game-winner also came at Averett, but this time it was Ferrum College that was on the losing end as the Bishops earned an 80-78 win over the 2nd-seeded Panthers in the first round of the 2008 USA South Tournament. more >

Battling Bishop men split two weekend buzzer beaters

Ferrum, VA - The men’s basketball team of North Carolina Wesleyan avenged a heartbreaking loss to Averett University earlier in the season on Friday night, downing the Cougars in overtime by a 93-91 score.  The Bishops, who lost to AU three weeks ago by one point, returned the favor when senior Lenny Hall (pictured) hit a buzzer-beating lay-up to seal the win. Unfortunately, Wesleyan (11-14, 4-8) lost in similar fashion on Saturday when Ferrum’s Jerrell Wade nailed a jumper with two seconds left in regulation to give the Panthers an 81-80 victory. more >

Bishops celebrate Senior Night with 74-67 win over Methodist

Rocky Mount, NC - The NC Wesleyan men's basketball team celebrated Senior Night in style on Monday night, coming from behind to down league-leading Methodist by a 74-67 score in Everett Gymnasium.  Seniors Lenny Hall and Jarvis Cobb (both pictured with Head Coach John Thompson) were honored prior to the game, and the two went on to combine for 22 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, and six steals en route to the victory.  Wesleyan improves to 10-13 on the season, 3-7 in USA South action.  The Monarchs now stand at 14-9 overall, 6-4 in league play. more >
