Hall scores career-high 38 in 92-85 Wesleyan win over CNU

Newport News, VA - Junior guard Lenny Hall recorded career-highs with 38 points and 12 rebounds, leading his Bishop men's basketball squad to a 92-85 win at Christopher Newport in Tuesday night men's basketball action.  Down 37-31 at the break, Hall (pictured) lit up the Captains for 31 points in the second half.  Now winners of three straight, Wesleyan evens its record a 7-7 and is 2-0 in USA South play.  CNU now stands at 9-6 overall, 1-1 in league action.

Down six at intermission, the Bishops managed to quickly tie the game at 41-41 at the 17:11 mark of the final period.  The next nine minutes saw the two squads combine for six lead changes and two ties.

The Bishops managed to go up six points, 62-56, at the 11:50 mark.  The Captains, however, battled back with a 16-3 run to take a seven-point lead at 72-65 with 7:56 remaining.  Two free throws by senior Emanuel Alston capped the ensuing 8-1 Bishop run to once again knot the game at 73-73 just a minute and a half later.

The next three minutes saw four ties, the final coming with 3:57 remaining and the score even at 79-79.

Hall then took over for the Bishops.  The talented junior scored the next nine points of the game by netting a lay-up, a three-pointer, and four free throws.  His 9-0 run gave Wesleyan a 88-79 lead and proved to be too much for the Captains, who did not recover.

Freshman Trey Drake added 15 points and six assists to compliment Hall's double-double.  Adam Coleman netted 13 points and pulled down seven boards for the Bishops, who committed just one second half turnover.

For CNU, Donta Selden poured in 27 points, while Korey Lewis and Mark Blasingame turned in 21 and 14 points, respectively.  Lewis completed the double-double with 11 rebounds.

Wesleyan continues USA South play on Saturday when the Bishops host Greensboro College.  Tip-off is slated for 4:00 p.m. in Everett Gymnasium.

Saturday will serve as both Parent's Day and "Take a Kid to the Game" day.  Kids 12 and under will be admitted free and will receive promotional posters and bracelets courtesy of NCAA Basketball.
