Wesleyan's Hall nets 24 in 83-78 overtime win at Shenandoah

Winchester, VA - After overcoming a 13-point halftime deficit, the Battling Bishop men's basketball team scored the first six points of overtime on Saturday afternoon to down homestanding Shenandoah University by an 83-78 score in Winchester.  Junior guard Lenny Hall (pictured), who netted a team-high 24 points, knocked down a 10-foot jumper with 15 seconds remaining in regulation to knot the game at 66-66 and force the extra period.  Wesleyan improves to 9-10 overall, 4-3 in USA South play.

After Hall's game-tying basket, Shenandoah (7-12, 1-7) held for the last shot.  Following a time-out, the Hornets inbounded to senior Mouktar Fawehinmi, who dribbled out to the three-point line and attempted to drive the lane. Fawehinmi was cut off and missed a three-point attempt as time expired.

The Bishops never trailed in the overtime period, out-scoring the Hornets 17-12.

The victory capped a furious comeback by Wesleyan. NCWC found itself down by as many as 17 late in the first half and went on to trail 38-25 at the break.

A three-pointer by SU's Curtis Grover at the 10:19 mark in the second half gave Shenandoah a 52-40 advantage.  The Bishops, however, responded with a 16-4 run over the next 4:53 that was capped by a Jarvis Cobb fastbreak lay-up at the 6:53 mark.  From this point on, the game saw three ties and four lead changes.

After Wesleyan took command of the extra session with the 6-0 run, Shenandoah was able to cut it no closer than four points the rest of the way.

Cobb chipped in 17 to go along with Hall's 24.  The Bishops' Adam Coleman also turned in a solid performance with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

SU's Lenzie Adams had a career-high 28 to pace the Hornets.  Fawehinmi added 25.

The Bishops return home on Tuesday night to host conference foe Christopher Newport.  Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. in Everett Gymnasium.
