Wesleyan opens men's basketball
season at Oglethorpe

- The Bishops of North Carolina
Wesleyan opened up their 2006-07
slate this weekend at the Oglethorpe
Tip-Off Classic. Despite
averaging 85 points per game in the
two-day tournament, Wesleyan dropped
contests to LaGrange College and
host Oglethorpe, respectively.
LaGrange downed the Bishops 110-88
on Friday before Oglethorpe won by a
99-81 score on Saturday.
In
Friday's opener, Lenny Hall poured
in a team-high 20 points for
Wesleyan. Jarvis Cobb chipped
in with 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting
from behind the arc, while Sharard
Carmichael and Reggie Washington
rounded out the double-figure
scorers with 11 and 10 points on the
night. Defensively, Hall
tallied a game-high seven steals,
tying his career-high.
The
Bishops trailed just 52-49 at the
break, but LaGrange shot 58 percent
from the floor in the second half to
pull away down the stretch. LC
had three players net 20+ points in
the game.
Wesleyan fell to Oglethorpe on
Saturday afternoon by a 99-81 score.
Hall paced three Bishops in double
figures with 24 points on 9-of-15
shooting. Freshman Trey Drake
added 15 and Adam Coleman 14 in the
losing effort. Coleman also
pulled down team-high eight
rebounds.
OU
shot 49 percent to the Bishops 43 in
the game.
The
Bishops will open up their home
slate on Tuesday when the University
of Mary Washington visits Everett
Gymnasium. Tip-off is slated
for 5:00 p.m.
