Sunday afternoon, leading his Bishop men of North Carolina
Wesleyan to a much-needed 79-71 win over league-leading
Ferrum College in Everett Gymnasium. The victory snaps
a three-game slide for the Bishops and evens their season
record at 9-9 overall. Wesleyan is now 2-4 in USA
South action, while Ferrum drops to 10-9 on the season, 4-2
in conference play.
The two squads fought to a
35-35 gridlock at the half. Ferrum shot 44.8 percent from
the floor to the Bishops' 38.9 percent, but Wesleyan managed
eight second chance points to the Panthers' two. Coleman and Trey Drake each tallied double figures in the
period with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
The second half featured five ties and
five lead changes with neither team able to pull away over
the first 10 minutes of play. Tied 52-52 with 10:29
remaining, Drake knocked down a three-pointer that keyed an
8-2 run by Wesleyan. The Bishops would not trail
again, pushing their lead to as many as nine on two
occasions.
In addition to Coleman's solid
performance, Jarmel Arrington chipped in 17 points and Drake
15. Lenny Hall came off the bench to score nine points
and dish out five assists, while freshman Tobias Adams
