Three Bishops among USA South postseason award-winners

Winchester, VA - The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its All-Conference awards for men's basketball with a total of 20 student-athletes earning recognition. North Carolina Wesleyan juniors Jarmel Arrington and Trey Drake were named to the league's Second Team, while freshman Alex Murray (pictured) was the Battling Bishops' representative on the All-Sportsmanship squad.

Arrington earns All-Conference accolades for the third time in his career. The talented shooter led the entire USA South in scoring at 17.8 points per game, while knocking down a league-best 74 attempts from behind the arc.

Drake picks up All-Conference honors for the second time in his career after averaging 14.5 points per game, which ranked fifth in the league.  Drake also ranked third in the USA South in assists (146), three-pointers made (49), and steals (48).

Finally, Murray completed an impressive freshman campaign that saw him twice earn Rookie of the Week recognition. He led the team in blocks this season with 31, while ranking second on the squad with 169 rebounds and 44 steals.

Other awards around the league saw Averett University sweep the individual honors. Jonathan Rumley was chosen as the Player of the Year, Kenny Hart as Rookie of the Year, and Jimmy Allen as Coach of the Year. The complete 2008-09 All-Conference teams follow.
