Drake earns All-American accolades

The NC Wesleyan Department of
Athletics is pleased to announce that senior point guard
Trey Drake has earned All-American status from the National
Association of Basketball Coaches. The NABC announced last
week its
All-District and State Farm All-American teams, recognizing
the best men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes in
Division III. Selected and voted on by member coaches of the
NABC, Drake was tabbed a First Team All-South performer and
a Second Team All-American. He is just the sixth Bishop in
men's basketball history to garner All-American status.

Wesleyan
falls to CNU in Tournament Championship, 67-63
Newport
News, VA
- NC Wesleyan saw its hopes for an automatic bid to
the NCAA Tournament end on Saturday afternoon with a
heartbreaking 67-63 loss to homestanding Christopher
Newport in the 2010 USA South Tournament
Championship. In a game that featured 12 ties and 13
lead changes, the 3rd-seeded Captains pulled the
upset over the top-seeded Bishops, snapping
Wesleyan's 11-game winning streak in the process.
Senior Trey Drake (pictured), who was named the
league's Player of the Year earlier in the week, was
named to the All-Tournament team after tallying a
team-high 16 points versus the Captains and a
game-high 22 points and seven assists in Friday's
90-70 semifinal win over Averett.

Wesleyan men honor
2010 Senior Class, down Ferrum 92-77

NC Wesleyan's men's basketball team celebrated its
2010 Senior Day on Saturday afternoon with a 92-77
victory over Ferrum College in Everett Gym. After
honoring this year's class prior to the contest, the
six young men (all pictured) proceeded to combine
for 72 of the Battling Bishops' 92 points, as well
as 13 rebounds, 13 assists, and five steals. With
the win, Wesleyan wraps up the regular season with a
15-9 overall record and an 11-1 mark in the USA
