Ivanovich paces Bishop men in 7-2 win over Barton College

Rocky Mount, NC - Junior Robert Ivanovich netted two goals on Wednesday afternoon, leading his North Carolina Wesleyan men's soccer team to a 7-2 victory over Division II rival Barton College at Scalf Field. Ivanovich (pictured) scored the gamewinner just six minutes into the game and later tacked on the Bishops' fifth goal.  Both of his goals were assisted by Danny Persson, who also tallied two scores in the match.  With their fourth straight win, the Bishops move to 4-1 on the season, while the Bulldogs remain winless at 0-4 overall.

NCWC's Ousman Sarr blasted a 25-yard shot off a pass from Edgar Zaldivar to up Wesleyan's lead to 2-0 in the 15th minute. Luke Oakley and Owen White later sandwiched goals around Barton's first score for a 4-1 Bishop lead at intermission.  Christopher Helms tallied both assists, while Kelly Cirbo netted the Bulldogs' goal, unassisted.

In the second half, Barton got on the board first with a goal by Chris Tripp from 30 yards out.  Down
4-2, however, the Bulldogs would get no closer as Ivanovich and Persson closed out the game with three unanswered goals for the Bishops.  Helms notched his third assist of the game, while Suilabayu Fon recorded his first of the season.

Wesleyan out-shot Barton 33-10 on the day. BC's Brian Reisenberg amassed 13 saves, while Josh Cooper came off the bench to tally five of his own.  Benjamin Kruk picked up the win in goal for NCWC, turning in five saves in the match.

The Bishops travel to Randolph College on Saturday. Game time is slated for 4:00 p.m.
