White's hat trick leads
Wesleyan to 5-1 victory at Randolph
Lynchburg,
VA
- Freshman Owen White recorded his first career collegiate
hat trick on Saturday afternoon, leading his North Carolina
Wesleyan men's soccer team to a 5-1 victory on the road at
Randolph College. White's first goal tied the game at
1-1 just before the break, while his second with 42:24
remaining proved to be the eventual gamewinner. The Battling
Bishops have now won five straight matches and improve to
5-1 on the season.
Despite getting out-shot
12-5 in the match, Randolph managed a 1-0 lead with a goal
by Eddy Ratianarivo in the 41st minute. White, however,
answered for the Bishops less than two minutes later on an
assist by Arkadiausz Trochowski. The two squads took the 1-1
tie into halftime.
In the second half, White
notched his second score on an assist by Christopher Helms
just 2:36 into the period. Danny Persson added an
unassisted goal in the 50th minute, and Ousman Sarr tacked
on a penalty kick goal in the 58th to extend the Bishops'
lead to 4-1.
White completed the hat
trick at the 61:27 mark on an assist by Benjamin Schmedes.
Neither team would generate any offense over the final 28
minutes en route to the 5-1 NCWC victory.

Gudnason made two saves to earn his second win in goal.
RC's Aaron Humphreys recorded seven saves in the losing
effort.
