Wesleyan tennis swept by Huntington, women fall at Peace

Rocky Mount, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan men's and women's tennis teams were swept by Huntington College on Tuesday afternoon by 5-4 and 6-0 scores, respectively. The Bishop women then fell on the road at Peace on Wednesday by a 7-2 score. Freshman Jaime Galasso and junior Ashley Ball each recorded singles wins for the Bishops, who dropped the 0-12 with the two losses. NCWC's men are now 4-5 on the season.

On Tuesday, the Bishop men looked to be headed to victory after recording a doubles sweep over Huntingdon. Antti Saari and Brandon Coleman were 8-2 winners at the top seed, while the tandems of Dustin Hale/Kalpesh Patel and Matt Smith/Mike Harrison earned wins at #2 and #3.

Saari went on to dominate #1 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win over BJ Foroughbian, moving to 7-0 individually this season. Unfortunately for the Bishops, it would be their final point as Huntingdon came back to take wins at two through six to steal the match.

On the women's side, Huntingdon swept singles play from Wesleyan en route to the 6-0 win.

On Wednesday, Galasso moved to 2-1 at #1 singles in USA South play with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Peace's Lauren Marion. Ball also picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win at the second seed, her first in league play this season.

The Pacers earned their points with a doubles sweep and singles wins at three through six.

Both the men and women return to action on Friday when the Bishops travel to Lynchburg College for a 3:00 p.m. match.  Wesleyan then hosts USA South foe Averett University on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the NCWC Tennis Complex.
