Softball's
Nichols named ESPN/CoSIDA Academic All-District

- The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics
and head softball coach John Brackett are pleased to
announce that junior outfielder Brittany Nichols has
been named to ESPN the Magazine's Academic All-District
Team. Nichols, who led the Battling Bishops in nearly
every offensive category this season, garnered Second
Team accolades as one of only two student-athletes
chosen from the USA South.
To be nominated, a
student-athlete must have a
minimum 3.30 grade point

Bishop softball ends
2010 season at USA South Tournament
Burlington,
NC
- In USA South Softball Tournament action, North
Carolina Wesleyan ended its season with a 9-4 loss to
Ferrum College on Saturday morning in Burlington. Senior
Kate Braun (pictured) was 3-for-3 with two runs scored
for the Bishops, who had opened tourney play with a 3-0
shutout of Averett on Friday. NCWC's other loss in
the at the hands of top-seeded CNU.

golf.
North
Carolina
Wesleyan had
24 athletes
earn
recognition,
while six
Bishops were
named to
their
respective
All-Sportsmanship
teams.
Among the 20
honorees,
there were
four First
Team
honorees,
eight Second
Team picks,
three Third
Team
selections,
and nine
Honorable
Mentions.
Leading the
way were
head coaches
Charlie Long
and Dominic
Modise, who
each earned
Coach of the
Year
accolades
for the
second
consecutive
season.

wraps up
final
homestand

- North Carolina Wesleyan's softball
squad wrapped up its final homestand of the 2010 season
over the weekend, suffering two sweeps at the hands of
USA South foes Ferrum and Greensboro on Friday and
Saturday, respectively. Despite the losses, however, the
Bishops turned in solid performances against the
league's 2nd- and 3rd-place teams, forcing extra innings
in two of the contests. Additionally, Saturday's
twinbill saw Wesleyan honor 2010 Senior Day as Tara
Strickland, Kate Braun, and Tiffany McCord each played
their final home games.
