USA South releases preseason coaches polls for spring sports

Fayetteville, NC - The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its preseason coaches polls for tennis, baseball, golf, lacrosse, and softball.  Wesleyan's highest billing came with men's tennis where the Bishops were picked to defend their 2010 regular season crown. In baseball, NCWC received one first place vote en route to a third place finish, and in men's golf, the Bishops were tabbed fifth. On the women's side, lacrosse was picked to finish sixth, while tennis and softball were both chosen seventh. more >

Bishop softball makes run in USAC Tourney, falls in semifinals

Burlington, NC - The 9th-seeded NC Wesleyan softball team made an impressive run in the 2009 USA South Conference Tournament over the weekend, winning four straight contests and coming within one game of a championship appearance. Unfortunately, the Bishops' season came to an end with a 6-0 loss to 2nd-seeded Shenandoah University in Sunday's semifinal match-up. Sophomore Alexis Gallop led the Bishops with a .429 batting average and four RBI en route to All-Tournament honors. more >

Moore and Saari highlight USA South spring award-winners

Fayetteville, NC - The USA South has announced its All-Conference awards for baseball, softball, tennis, and golf.  \Wesleyan had 15 athletes earn recognition, while five Bishops were named to their respective All-Sportsmanship teams.  Among the 15 honorees, there were six First Team picks, five Second Team picks, and four Honorable Mentions.  Leading the way were Ben Moore of baseball and Antti Saari of men's tennis, who each garnered Player of the Year accolades. more >
