Bishop netters
win again, down Meredith College 3-1

Behind 16 kills and 20 digs by
junior Sydney Bens (pictured), the Battling
Bishop volleyball team of North
Carolina Wesleyan continued its
winning ways on Tuesday night,
downing Meredith College by a 3-1
score in USA South volleyball
action. Game scores were
30-19, 30-18, 28-30, and 30-21.
Wesleyan has now won four straight
games and improves to 14-10 on the
season. More importantly, the
Bishops currently boast a 6-4 record
in league play.
In addition to
Bens' performance, sophomore
Brittany Insley tallied a game-high
17 kills and team-high three blocks.
Freshman Carla Pridgen turned in a
career-high eight kills, while
senior setter Caitlin George chipped
in 43 assists and five service aces.
Like Bens, Kelly George also
recorded 20 digs defensively.
For Meredith,
Morgan White amassed 17 kills, and
Laura Sayabouth dished out 36
assists. Mallory Booker paced
the Angels on defense with a
game-high 24 digs.
With no
substantial advantage for either
team among blocking and dig
statistics, the difference in the
game came down to hitting
percentage. The Bishops
notched 53 kills against 23 errors,
while the Angels recorded just 41
kills against 25 miscues.
Wesleyan returns
to action on Thursday night when the
Bishops host Chowan University.
Game time is slated for 6:30 p.m. in
Everett Gymnasium.
