Wesleyan falls to CNU in USA South
volleyball action, 3-0

- Christopher Newport University,
led by Allison Wolfe's game-high 19
kills, ended the North Carolina
Wesleyan volleyball team's
seven-game winning streak on
Wednesday night by downing the
Bishops in a 3-0 sweep. Game
scores were 30-20, 30-14, and 30-24.
CNU improves to 22-6 on the season
and remains undefeated in USA South
play at 13-0. Wesleyan is now
17-11 overall with an 8-5 conference
mark.
In
addition to her 19 kills, Wolfe
notched 11 digs. Ellen Koch
chipped in 14 kills, while Brittany
Collins added 14 kills, 42 assists,
and five service aces.
Collins, in fact, served 11 straight
points near the beginning of game
two. Christie Kirby recorded a
game-high 19 digs.
For
NCWC, Sydney Bens tallied a
team-high 13 kills. Caitlin
George recorded 29 assists and 11
digs, and Kelly George amassed 17
digs.
CNU
turned in an impressive .370 hitting
percentage in the match with 54
kills against just seven errors.
The Captains also won the blocking
battle with six to Wesleyan's one.
The Bishops
return to action at home on
Friday night when they host
Greensboro and Mary Baldwin at 3:30
p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively.
Wesleyan will be celebrating Senior
Night prior to the the Mary Baldwin match.
