DeRatt paces Wesleyan volleyball in
3-0 sweep of Guilford

- Sophomore Barbara DeRatt turned in
a solid all-around performance on
Tuesday night, leading her North
Carolina Wesleyan volleyball team to
its seventh straight victory with a
3-0 sweep of Guilford College. Set
scores were 25-22, 25-13, and 25-18.
DeRatt (pictured) turned in a .455
hitting percentage, five kills, four
assists, and one service ace.
With the win, the Bishops improve to
17-6 on the season, while Guilford
drops to 5-16 overall.
The
Bishops jumped out to a quick 1-0
match lead in the first set as
junior Brittany Insley tallied six
kills in eight attempts. They
increased the lead to 2-0 with a
dominant win in the second set
behind a .312 team hitting
percentage.
The
third set saw the Quakers hurt
themselves with five kills against
five errors in 25 attempts to secure
Wesleyan's sweep. Mary Moody
paced GC in the match with a
team-high seven kills.
For
NCWC, Insley finished with a
game-high 16 kills, while teammate
Leslie Hassell added 10. Mackenzie
Tingle dished out 30 assists, and
Kelly George collected a game-high
13 digs on defense.
The Bishops
will now enjoy a seven-day break
before returning to action next
Wednesday at home versus Meredith
College. Game time is slated for
7:00 p.m. in Everett Gymnasium.
