Insley and Tingle pace
Bishops in 3-0 sweep of Salem College
Winston-Salem, NC
- In Thursday night's non-conference
volleyball action, senior Brittany Insley and sophomore
Mackenzie Tingle (both pictured) recorded 19 kills and 31
assists, respectively, to pace the Battling Bishops in a 3-0
sweep of Salem College. Set scores were 25-18, 25-14, and
25-14 as Wesleyan secured its third straight victory. The
Bishops now stand at 5-6 on the season entering Saturday's
USA South Play Day.
Insley added three blocks
and Tingle four service aces for the Bishops, who had nearly
every player see action in the match. Junior Kelly
George led the defensive effort with 22 digs, while
sophomore Leslie Hassell added six kills and eight digs.
Freshman Shana Ayers turned in a solid all-around
performance off the bench with three kills, two service
aces, five digs, and two blocks.
The Battling Bishops
amassed 39 kills, 10 aces, and 10 blocks (2 solo, 8 assists)
as a team, while the Spirits struggled with a negative
hitting percentage for the match (-.034).
Saturday's USAC action will
see the Battling
Bishops host Mary Baldwin and
Greensboro. NCWC matches are slated
for 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. and
will feature both live stats and webcasting.
