Insley and Tingle pace Bishops in 3-0 sweep of Salem College

Winston-Salem, NC - In Thursday night's non-conference volleyball action, senior Brittany Insley and sophomore Mackenzie Tingle (both pictured) recorded 19 kills and 31 assists, respectively, to pace the Battling Bishops in a 3-0 sweep of Salem College. Set scores were 25-18, 25-14, and 25-14 as Wesleyan secured its third straight victory. The Bishops now stand at 5-6 on the season entering Saturday's USA South Play Day.

Insley added three blocks and Tingle four service aces for the Bishops, who had nearly every player see action in the match.  Junior Kelly George led the defensive effort with 22 digs, while sophomore Leslie Hassell added six kills and eight digs. Freshman Shana Ayers turned in a solid all-around performance off the bench with three kills, two service aces, five digs, and two blocks.

The Battling Bishops amassed 39 kills, 10 aces, and 10 blocks (2 solo, 8 assists) as a team, while the Spirits struggled with a negative hitting percentage for the match (-.034).

Saturday's USAC action will see the Battling Bishops host Mary Baldwin and Greensboro. NCWC matches are slated for 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. and will feature both live stats and webcasting.
