Tingle helps NCWC
volleyball remain perfect in league play

- Sophomore setter Mackenzie Tingle
(pictured) tallied 46 assists, 13 digs, and seven kills over
two matches on Friday, leading her Battling Bishop
volleyball squad to back-to-back 3-0 sweeps of Ferrum
College and Averett University, respectively. Wesleyan has
now won seven of its last eight matches to move to 9-7 on
the season, and the Bishops remain perfect in USA South play
at 5-0.
Versus Ferrum, set scores
were 25-14, 25-18, and 25-14. The Bishops turned in a .227
hitting percentage as a team, while holding the Panthers to
-.018 accuracy at the net.
Freshman Meredith Smith
recorded a team-high 12 kills, followed closely by senior
Brittany Insley with 11. Tingle managed a double-double with
28 assists and 10 digs, while junior Kelly George chipped in
a game-high 13 digs.
Against host Averett, set
scores were 25-19, 25-17, and 25-17. Insley amassed a
game-high 11 kills, and Tingle dished out 18 assists. George
again paced Wesleyan defensively with 17 digs to lead all
players.
The Bishops return to
action at home on Wednesday when Methodist University visits
Everett Gymnasium. The conference tilt is slated for a 7:00
p.m. start and will feature both live stats and webcasting.
