NCWC volleyball earns pair
of league victories at Peace Play Day

- North Carolina Wesleyan's
volleyball team earned
a pair of USA South Conference victories at Peace College on
Saturday afternoon, knocking off Shenandoah University and
the host Pacers by 3-0 and 3-1 scores, respectively. Junior
libero Kelly George (pictured) recorded a season-high 33
digs versus Peace and averaged nearly 25 digs per match on
the day. The victory is the fourth straight for the Bishops,
who now stand at 16-9 overall, 11-2 in the USA South.
Set scores versus the
Hornets (12-14, 2-12 USAC) were 25-13, 25-17, and 25-14.
Senior Brittany Insley led all players in the match with 16
kills in 30 attempts, while freshman Meredith Smith tallied
10 kills in 15 tries. The sweep also saw Mackenzie Tingle
dish out 34 assists. As a team, the Bishops hit a solid .291
in the match.
Against Peace (10-14, 5-7
USAC), set scores were 25-20, 25-14, 25-27, and 25-21.
Insley and Smith again paced the Bishops with 15 kills
apiece, while sophomore Leslie Hassell had 13. Insley
also completed the double-double with 23 digs.
Wesleyan takes a break from USA
South play on Tuesday when the Bishops travel to the
University of Mary Washington. Game time is slated for 7:00
p.m. in Fredericksburg, VA.
