Tingle leads Wesleyan
volleyball to pair of league sweeps

- Sophomore Mackenzie Tingle
(pictured) tallied 43 assists, 11 digs, and seven kills over
two matches on Saturday afternoon, leading her North
Carolina Wesleyan volleyball squad to a pair of 3-0 league
sweeps over Mary Baldwin and Greensboro.
The Battling Bishops have now won seven
straight matches to move to 19-9 overall, while boasting a
13-2 record in USA South Conference play.
Against
host Mary Baldwin, set scores were 25-19, 25-14, and 25-20.
Senior Brittany Insley turned in a game-high 13 kills, and
Tingle dished out 21 assists. Kelly George led the defensive
effort with 15 digs.
In
NCWC's second match versus Greensboro, set scores were
25-14, 25-19, and 26-24. Insley again paced the offensive
effort with 15 kills, and Tingle had 22 assists. Insley
completed with double-double with 10 digs, while George had
16.
As a
team, the Bishops turned in 74 kills against just 25 attack
errors on the day. Wesleyan also tallied 11 blocks in
the two contests compared to seven by its opponents.
The Bishops return to
action on Monday when they host Randolph-Macon College in a
7:00 p.m. non-conference match-up. Monday night will serve
as Dig Pink night in Everett Gym, and fans are encouraged to
wear pink in honor of this breast cancer awareness
initiative.
