NCWC volleyball goes 1-2 at
Lynchburg College Quad Meet

- In non-conference volleyball
action, the Battling Bishops of
North Carolina Wesleyan went 1-2 at
Saturday's Quad Meet hosted by
Lynchburg College. NCWC fell to St.
Mary's (MD) and host Lynchburg by
3-1 and 3-0 scores, respectively,
before rebounding to defeat Peace
College in a 3-0 sweep. The Bishops,
who fell on the road to Virginia
Wesleyan College earlier in the
week, are now 3-6 overall this
season.
In
the day's opening match versus St.
Mary's (MD), set scores were 25-23,
18-25 , 25-22, and 25-18. Senior
Brittany Insley and sophomore Leslie
Hassell recorded 10 kills apiece,
while junior Kelly George amassed 24
digs. Setter Mackenzie Tingle also
dished out 24 assists.
Against Lynchburg, set scores were
25-21, 25-14, and 27-25 in favor of
the hosts. Insley again paced
Wesleyan with nine kills and three
blocks. Tingle and George added 19
assists and 15 digs, respectively.
The
final match of the day saw the
Bishops rebound for a 3-0 sweep of
Peace College. Set scores were
25-20, 25-14, and 25-11. Hassell
tallied a team-high 11 kills and
Tingle had 21 assists in the
victory. Insley finished with six
blocks, and George had 18 digs.
On
Tuesday versus VWC, the Marlins
registered a 3-0 sweep by 25-14,
25-19, and 25-21 scores. Insley led
the Bishops with nine kills, while
George tallied 14 digs.
Wesleyan returns to action on
Tuesday night when the Battling
Bishops open up USA South Conference
play versus Meredith College at 7:00
p.m. in Everett Gymnasium. The match
will feature both live stats and
webcasting.
