Chambers named All-Tournament at Juniata Holiday Invitational

Huntingdon, PA - Senior Essence Chambers averaged 15.5 points, four rebounds, and three assists per game over the weekend, but it was not enough as the Battling Bishop women's basketball squad dropped two contests at the Juniata Holiday Invitational. Chambers (pictured) netted 18 points in Wesleyan's 65-51 loss to Geneseo on Saturday and 13 points in the Bishops' 61-46 loss to Milligan on Sunday en route to All-Tournament honors. NCWC is now 1-5 on the season.

Against Geneseo, Wesleyan went into the break down 30-27.  The Bishops trailed 49-46 with 5:24 remaining, but an 11-0 run by Geneseo over the next two minutes effectively put the game out of reach. In addition to Chambers' 18, freshman Meredith Mills added eight points for the Bishops.

In Sunday's consolation game versus Milligan, Wesleyan outscored its opponent 29-25 in the second half but could not overcome a 36-17 halftime deficit.  Mills turned in 11 points, while T'Keya Holloway chipped in eight points and nine rebounds.

Wesleyan opens up USA South Conference play on Tuesday at Meredith College. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Raleigh.
