Limestone College earns 6-0 shutout of Wesleyan women

The Lady Saint soccer team of Limestone College registered
its first win of the 2008 season on Wednesday afternoon,
downing the visiting Battling Bishops of North Carolina
Wesleyan by a 6-0 score in Gaffney. Limestone’s Lee Cribb
and Madi Dulisse each scored twice in the victory. Both
teams now stand at 1-3 on the season.
Limestone scored just 1:39 into the match when Cribb played
the ball to Alexis Brothers on a breakaway. Cribb went on to
score two back-to-back goals in the 4th and 24th minutes for
a quick 3-0 Limestone lead. Dulisse put the Saints up 4-0
with a goal in the 34th minute, and LC took the 4-0 lead
into the break.
In the
second half, the Lady Saints scored again in the 86th minute
on an Ashley Alderin-Fleagle goal. The Saints’ final goal
came on Dulisse’s second of the contest in the 89th minute.
All
three of Limestone’s goalkeepers saw playing time, combining
for three saves on four NCWC shots. Wesleyan keeper Bryanne
Godfrey posted five saves for the Bishops in the first half,
while junior Sarah Hess had one save in the final period.
Wesleyan next heads to Sweet Briar College on Saturday,
September 20th for an 11:00 a.m. match-up with the Vixens.
