Limestone College earns 6-0 shutout of Wesleyan women

Gaffney, SC - The Lady Saint soccer team of Limestone College registered its first win of the 2008 season on Wednesday afternoon, downing the visiting Battling Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan by a 6-0 score in Gaffney. Limestone’s Lee Cribb and Madi Dulisse each scored twice in the victory.  Both teams now stand at 1-3 on the season.

Limestone scored just 1:39 into the match when Cribb played the ball to Alexis Brothers on a breakaway. Cribb went on to score two back-to-back goals in the 4th and 24th minutes for a quick 3-0 Limestone lead. Dulisse put the Saints up 4-0 with a goal in the 34th minute, and LC took the 4-0 lead into the break.

In the second half, the Lady Saints scored again in the 86th minute on an Ashley Alderin-Fleagle goal.  The Saints’ final goal came on Dulisse’s second of the contest in the 89th minute.

All three of Limestone’s goalkeepers saw playing time, combining for three saves on four NCWC shots. Wesleyan keeper Bryanne Godfrey posted five saves for the Bishops in the first half, while junior Sarah Hess had one save in the final period.

Wesleyan next heads to Sweet Briar College on Saturday, September 20th for an 11:00 a.m. match-up with the Vixens.
