Newport News, VA - The Battling Bishop women's soccer team of North Carolina Wesleyan saw its 2009 season come to an end on Tuesday afternoon in the first round of the USA South Conference Tournament. The 7th-seeded Bishops fell on the road at 2nd-seeded Christopher Newport by a 4-1 score, ending the season with a 5-13-1 overall record. The match marked the end of the careers of seniors Sarah Hess, Meredith Hester, Joanne Youngblood, Tiara Joyner, Aubrey Bonorden, and Sarah Matulich.

The Captains' Sam Ciarivino tallied a first half hat trick to give CNU a 3-0 lead at the break. Ciarivino's scores came in the 10th, 39th, and 45th minutes, respectively. Kendall Dishaw and Lauren Fleming were credited with assists on the first two goals, while Ciarivino's third was unassisted.

Erin Edmundson netted the final goal of the match in the 89th minute for the 4-0 final.
