Wesleyan women drop 7-1 decision at Randolph-Macon

Ashland, VA - The North Carolina Wesleyan women's soccer team dropped a 7-1 decision at Randolph-Macon College on Saturday afternoon in Ashland, VA. The Yellow Jackets' Amanda Nelms recorded a hat trick in the victory, while the Bishops' lone goal was scored by freshman Hanna-Leena Kokkonen.  NCWC is now 0-2 to start the season, while RMC improves to 2-0.

Randolph-Macon took a 4-0 advantage into intermission thanks to four goals inside the first 20 minutes of play. Nelms' second and third goals early in the second half pushed that lead to 6-0 before Kokkonen recorded her first collegiate goal at the 76:20 mark.

The Yellow Jackets held a 29-3 advantage in shots as NCWC keepers Sarah Hess and Katri Snellman combined for six saves on the day.  A trio of RMC goalies saw time in goal, recording two saves.

The Bishops (0-2) host their 2009 Women's Soccer Fall Classic next Friday and Saturday at Scalf Field. NCWC will face Bridgewater College at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and Bluefield College at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Friday's game versus Bridgewater will feature both live stats and live webcasting.
