Bishop women drop 5-1 contest on the road at Guilford

Greensboro, NC - Guilford College erased a 1-0 halftime deficit with five goals in the final 45 minutes of play to down North Carolina Wesleyan by a 5-1 score in Wednesday's non-conference women's soccer action. The Battling Bishops' lone score came on a goal by senior Aubrey Bonoren, while Lisette Acevado did most of the Quakers' damage with a second half hat trick.

Bonorden's goal came at the 16:06 mark of the first half on an assist by freshman Ashley Marks and gave the Bishops a 1-0 advantage. Senior goalie Sarah Hess made five saves in the period to preserve Wesleyan's slim halftime lead.

In the second half, it was all Quakers as Ashley Anderson knotted the score less than nine minutes into the period. Acevado then proceed to tally goals in the 66th, 70th, and 81st minutes to give GC a 4-1 lead.  Lily Wotkyns, who assisted on Anderson's score, netted a goal at the 86:59 mark for the 5-1 final.

GC keeper Kat Adams made two saves on the night to secure the win in goal. Hess was relieved by freshman Tiina Rastiola in the second half, who made four saves on 16 shots in the period.

Wesleyan (3-5-0) returns to action on Monday when the Bishops travel to Emory & Henry College for a 5:00 p.m. match-up with the Wasps.
