The North Carolina Wesleyan women’s soccer program has been recognized as one of the top
small college programs in the nation since it began in 1983. The team has a
record of 236 wins, 200 losses, and 28 ties over its 26-year history. NCWC
has reached the NCAA tournament ten times, including a Final Four appearance
in 1994. The Battling Bishops have also won Dixie (now USA South) Conference
Championships in 1984, 1992, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001.
The most successful season to date came in 1994 when
the team won the NCAA South Regional Championship and reached the NCAA Final
Four in San Diego, CA. The ‘94 team also won the Conference Championship and
compiled a final record of 15-3-3.
When you come to Wesleyan, you can be assured that
you’ll be playing alongside some of the best women in the nation. The
program has produced 31 All-South players, seven All- Americans and the 1994
NCAA Division III National Player of the Year. Academically, Bishop
student-athletes have received numerous awards, including 11 Scholar-Athlete
All-Region performers, five Scholar-Athlete All-Americans, and five Verizon
Academic All-Americans or All-District selections.
The North Carolina Wesleyan women’s soccer program is year-round and is
demanding both physically and mentally. Athletically, Battling Bishop coaches look
for players that are skillful, hardworking and have a strong desire to
succeed. Most importantly, each team member must commit to achieving the
team’s academic and athletic goals.
Finally, Bishop players are good people. The way
players act off the field is a direct reflection of their performance on the
field; therefore, Wesleyan wants players that act in a first class manner
and make the College community proud. |
