USA
South releases preseason coaches polls for spring sports
Fayetteville, NC
- The USA South
Athletic Conference has announced its preseason coaches
polls for tennis, baseball, golf, lacrosse, and softball. Wesleyan's highest billing came with
men's tennis where the Bishops were picked to
defend their 2010 regular season crown. In baseball, NCWC
received one first place vote en route to a third place
finish, and in men's golf, the Bishops were tabbed fifth. On
the women's side, lacrosse was picked to finish sixth,
while tennis and softball were both chosen seventh.

athletes
have earned
USA South
Weekly
accolades in
their
respective
sports.
Senior
Brittany
Insley of
volleyball
was named
Player of
the Week,
while
freshmen
Kristin
Seidel and
Jack Gilbert
were named
Rookies of
the Week in
women's
tennis and
men's golf.

Bishop women's tennis
fairs well at Methodist
Fall Invitational
Fayetteville, NC
- The Battling Bishop
women's tennis team
faired well at this past
weekend's Methodist Fall
Invitational, showing
marked improvement en
route to a 14-11
record in singles play.
Wesleyan was led by
freshman Kristin Seidel,
who went 4-0 in singles
action and won the "C"
bracket championship.
All four of Seidel's
wins were against USA
South competition.

Wesleyan had 15
athletes earn
recognition,
while five
Bishops were

All-Sportsmanship
teams.
Among the 15
honorees, there
were six First
Team picks, five
Second Team
picks, and four
Honorable
Mentions.
Leading the way
were senior Ben
Moore of
baseball and
sophomore Antti
Saari of men's
tennis, who each
garnered Player
of the Year
accolades.

falls in USA South First
Round action
Ferrum,
VA
-
The North Carolina
Wesleyan women's tennis
team saw its 2009 season
come to an end on
Tuesday afternoon,
falling to Ferrum
College by a 6-3 score
in the first round of
the USA South Conference
Tournament. Sophomores
Jaime Galasso (pictured)
and Leila Heinonen
scored all three of the
Battling Bishops' points
with a victory at #1
doubles, as well as wins
at #1 and #2 singles.
NCWC finishes the season
with a 1-15 overall
record.
