Burlington, NC - The women's tennis team of North Carolina Wesleyan saw its 2010 season come to an end on Saturday as the Bishops fell to top-seeded Methodist University by a 7-2 score in USA South Tournament action. The Monarchs took 2-of-3 tiebreaks and earned a trio of three-set victories in singles play to advance to Sunday's title match. Long and Modise highlight USA South spring award-winners

Fayetteville, NC - The USA South has announced its All-Conference awards for baseball, tennis, softball, lacrosse and golf.  North Carolina Wesleyan had 24 athletes earn recognition, while six Bishops were named to their respective All-Sportsmanship teams.  Among the 20 honorees, there were four First Team honorees, eight Second Team picks, three Third Team selections, and nine Honorable Mentions.  Leading the way were head coaches Charlie Long and Dominic Modise, who each earned Coach of the Year accolades for the second consecutive season. more >

Kacher, Seidel lead NCWC women to 9-0 sweep in league finale

Rocky Mount, NC - Freshmen Samia Kacher and Kristin Seidel (pictured) teamed for an 8-1 win at #2 doubles and straight-set wins at #1 and #3 singles to help lead their North Carolina Wesleyan women's tennis squad to a 9-0 sweep of Mary Baldwin College in Saturday's USA South regular season finale. The win leaves the Bishops with an 8-3 regular season record and a 6-3 conference mark, both of which are new program records. more >

Bishop men down CNU 7-2, women drop heartbreaker 5-4

Virginia Beach, VA - Current USA South Rookie of the Week Artsiom Prostak contributed two of the Bishops' points on Thursday afternoon, helping his North Carolina Wesleyan men's tennis squad to a 7-2 victory over Christopher Newport on the road. Prostak teamed with Marcelo
Prata for a 9-7 win at #2 doubles and later cruised to a straight-set
victory at #5 singles. On the women's side, the Captains needed two three-set wins at #3 and #4 singles to secure a 5-4 victory. more >

Wesleyan tennis earns doubleheader sweep of Averett

Rocky Mount, NC - The Battling Bishop men's and women's tennis teams managed a USA South doubleheader sweep of Averett on Saturday afternoon in Rocky Mount. Wesleyan's men earned a 9-0 victory over the Cougars, and the women were 6-3 winners. The men, who are currently ranked #11 nationally, move to 8-1 on the season, 2-0 in conference play, while the women are 4-1 overall, 3-1 in league action. more >
