Wesleyan men remain
undefeated, women fall
to VWC

- The North Carolina
Wesleyan men's and
women's tennis teams
split a Sunday afternoon
doubleheader with
Virginia Wesleyan by 5-0
and 5-1 scores,
respectively. The
matches were played at
the indoor courts of
Ford's Colony Rocky
Mount due to inclement
weather. The shutout
preserves a perfect
season thusfar for
NCWC's men, who downed
D-II Barton College by
an 8-1 score earlier in
the week and are now 5-0
overall. The Bishop
women currently stand at
1-3 on the season.
On Sunday versus
VWC, the Bishop
men swept
doubles play en
route to a quick
3-0 advantage.

Wright at the #1
seed by a an 8-3
score, while
Anton Filonov/Ilpo
Kautonen teamed
to defeat the
Marlin tandem of
Sal Saranti/Luke
Blum 8-1 at the
two seed.
Dominic Forsdike/Brandon
Coleman were 8-0
winners at the
third slot.
In singles play,
Evgeniy Bukatin
and Artem
Alexandrov won
at #1 and #2
singles to
clinch the
match.
On the women's
side, NCWC's
lone point came
at #3 doubles in
a default win.
Previously on
Tuesday, the
Bishops stunned
the Bulldogs in
an 8-1
performance. The
Bulldogs' only
win came in a
tight 9-7
decision at #1
doubles. NCWC
went on to sweep
singles play.
The Bishop women open up
USA South play at 3:30
p.m. on Tuesday
afternoon at Meredith
College, while both
Wesleyan's men and women
will be in action on
Saturday when they
travel to Shenandoah
University for a 1:00
p.m. match-up with the
Hornets.
