Softball's Bass named Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Region

Rocky Mount, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan softball program and head coach John Brackett are pleased to announce that shortstop Ashlee Bass has been named a Louisville Slugger All-Region performer by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. A Second Team selection, this is the third All-Region award for the talented senior. Bass (pictured) was a Second Team pick in 2006 and First Team pick in 2005 when she went on to garner All-American honors. more >

Battling Bishops and Eagles split Senior Day doubleheader

Rocky Mount, NC - The Battling Bishop baseball team of North Carolina Wesleyan split Sunday afternoon’s twinbill with Mary Washington at Bauer Field, taking game one 10-3 before falling in game two by a 6-3 score. Prior to game one, the Bishops honored their 2008 seniors: Matt Smith, Jason Webb, Ted Williams, Chris Pecora, and Kyle Robertson (all pictured). more >

Warner and Townsend join Sweden’s Carlstad Crusaders

Rocky Mount, NC - This summer, the North Carolina Wesleyan football program is proud to have two of its own join the Carlstad Crusaders, a member of the Super Series Football League in Sweden!  Assistant Coach Max Warner will be serving as offensive coordinator, while USA South Player  of the Year and Bishop product Cedric Townsend (pictured) will be one of two quarterbacks on the roster.  The two are currently overseas and will be providing a weekly blog for fans to enjoy. more >

Wesleyan baseball falls in USA South Tourney Championship

Burlington, NC - North Carolina Wesleyan's baseball squad fell just short in its bid for a second USA South Tournament Championship in the last three years as the Bishops dropped two games to Christopher Newport on Sunday. Having defeated Averett, Greensboro, and Methodist to advance to the championship as the lone remaining undefeated team, Wesleyan was two outs away from an automatic bid to the NCAAs when CNU rallied to take the game 4-3 in extras. The Captains went on to secure the championship with a 12-3 win in game two. more >

NCWC golfers finish sixth at 2008 USA South Championship

Burlington, NC - Methodist University captured its sixth straight USAS South Golf Championship title and 27th overall at the Stoney Creek Golf Club on Sunday. The Monarchs won the title based on the first two days of the tournament as Sunday’s final round was cancelled. North Carolina Wesleyan finished sixth, nine strokes behind 5th-place Shenandoah University. Freshman Cole Brantner (pictured) paced the Bishop with rounds of 83 and 81 to finished tied for 15th among the talented field of 34 golfers. more >

Battling Bishop men's tennis falls in USA South semifinals

Burlington, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan men's tennis team saw its 2008 season come to an end in the semifinals of the USA South Tournament for the second straight year. After downing Ferrum 9-0 to advance, the Bishops fell to Methodist University by the same score on Saturday. Wesleyan finishes the season with a 9-8 record under first-year head coach Dominic Modise (pictured), marking the first winning season for the program since 1976. more >

Wesleyan softball season ends in USA South Tournament

Burlington, NC - The Bishop softball team of NCWC saw its 2008 season come to an end over the weekend at the USA South Tournament. Wesleyan, the 7th seed, opened up play with a 13-1 win over Mary Baldwin on Friday before dropping a 5-3 decision to eventual champion CNU later in the day. The Bishops then fell to Ferrum College by a 4-2 score in extra innings in Saturday's first elimination game, ending the season with an 18-19 overall record and closing out the careers of senior Denise Pope, Ashlee Bass, Libby Fulford, and Katie Dunavant (all pictured). more >
