NCWC golf finishes fifth at Piedmont Fall Classic

Rutledge, GA - The Battling Bishop golf squad of North Carolina Wesleyan continued their recent improvement, finishing fifth in the 2006 Piedmont Fall Classic this past Sunday and Monday.  The two-day event was held at the par-72 Creek at Hard Labor, a 6,442-yard course in Rutledge, GA.  Wesleyan, which was just nine strokes out of fourth place at the tournament's end, was led by freshman Christopher Crews who finished tied for 14th among the field of 35 with rounds of 79 and 81.

Also competing for the Bishops were Steve Lee (83-80), Daniel Chewning (83-96), Trevor Seibert (94-96), and David Harris (103-105).  Lee finished in 19th place as Wesleyan's second highest finisher.

Alex Lantz of Shorter earned top individual honors at even par for the two-day event.  He shot rounds of 75 and 69 to pace Shorter, which took first place as a team at 29-over par with rounds of 298 and 307.

Wesleyan's team round totals were 339 and 353.  There were six teams competing.

The Bishops return to action next Monday and Tuesday when they travel to the St. Andrews Presbyterian Invitational in Wagram, NC.  The tournament will be held at Deercroft Golf Course.
