Hot-shooting Greensboro downs
Battling Bishops, 80-62
Greensboro, NC - Trailing by one at halftime, the
Greensboro College men’s basketball team opened up the
second half with a 15-2 surge and ran away with an 80-62 win
over visiting North Carolina Wesleyan on Saturday at Hanes
Gym. As a team, the Pride (8-9, 2-2) shot 62.5% in the
second half and 51.8% for the game en route to the victory.
With the loss, the Bishops are now 8-7 on the season, 1-2 in
USA South play.
The Bishops, who
shot just 31% from the floor in the first half, compensated
for a poor shooting performance with 10 points off of Pride
turnovers and 13 bench points in the period. Wesleyan
held a slim 33-32 lead at the break.
Unfortunately,
NCWC's offensive struggles continued in the second half,
while Greensboro's Adam Nicholson and Bruce Zamuel caught
fire. Nicholson scored 16 of his game-high 23 points in the
period. Zamuel added 11 points in the half and 20 for
the game.
GC's RJ Smith
chipped in 12 points and four assists. Josh brown grabbed a
team high 14 rebounds, while the Pride held the rebounding
edge over Wesleyan 44-31.
Lenny Hall, who
became Wesleyan’s all-time leading scorer this week, led the
Bishops with 15 points.
Wesleyan travels to
Methodist University on Monday. Tip-off is slated for 7:30
p.m. in Fayetteville.
