Hot-shooting Greensboro downs Battling Bishops, 80-62

Greensboro, NC - Trailing by one at halftime, the Greensboro College men’s basketball team opened up the second half with a 15-2 surge and ran away with an 80-62 win over visiting North Carolina Wesleyan on Saturday at Hanes Gym. As a team, the Pride (8-9, 2-2) shot 62.5% in the second half and 51.8% for the game en route to the victory. With the loss, the Bishops are now 8-7 on the season, 1-2 in USA South play.

The Bishops, who shot just 31% from the floor in the first half, compensated for a poor shooting performance with 10 points off of Pride turnovers and 13 bench points in the period.  Wesleyan held a slim 33-32 lead at the break.

Unfortunately, NCWC's offensive struggles continued in the second half, while Greensboro's Adam Nicholson and Bruce Zamuel caught fire. Nicholson scored 16 of his game-high 23 points in the period.  Zamuel added 11 points in the half and 20 for the game.

GC's RJ Smith chipped in 12 points and four assists. Josh brown grabbed a team high 14 rebounds, while the Pride held the rebounding edge over Wesleyan 44-31.

Lenny Hall, who became Wesleyan’s all-time leading scorer this week, led the Bishops with 15 points.

Wesleyan travels to Methodist University on Monday. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. in Fayetteville.
