Bishop men remain undefeated with 1-0 win over #17 UMW

Fredericksburg, VA - The Bishop men's soccer team of North Carolina Wesleyan moved to a perfect 10-0 on the season with an impressive 1-0 overtime win over the 17th-ranked University of Mary Washington on Saturday at the Battleground.  Oz Otoo scored the game's lone goal with 3:11 remaining in the first overtime after a scramble in the penalty area to give the 25-th ranked Bishops the victory.  UMW falls to 7-2 with its second-straight loss.

Although the Eagles out-shot the Bishops 13-9 and held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks, freshman goalie Renato Corte kept Wesleyan in the game with four crucial saves. UMW keeper Greg Savage had two stops on the day.

UMW had several quality chances, particularly in the first half when the Eagles watched one shot hit the goalpost.

Wesleyan returns to USA South conference action on Wednesday when the Bishops travel to Averett University.  Game time is slated for 4:00 p.m.
