25th-ranked Bishops down Chowan University, 12-0

Rocky Mount, NC - The 25th-ranked Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan downed Chowan University by a 12-0 score on Tuesday afternoon at Scalf Field.  Wesleyan opened up a 7-0 lead at intermission and did not look back in moving to a perfect 9-0 on the season.  Oz Otoo and Kevin Lue each had two goals to pace the Bishops.

Junior Danny Jones opened up the scoring with his second game-winning goal in as many games, sending a one-timer past Hawk keeper Josh Cenci in the 17th minute.  Justin Thompson followed with the game's second goal just six minutes later, and Lucas Fuentes pushed the score to 3-0 with his team-leading eighth goal of the season at the 28:50 mark.

Otoo's two scores sandwiched a Shawn Dixon goal, and Alimamy Jabbie rounded out the first-half scoring with an unassisted goal just 32 seconds before intermission.

Several Bishops got into the scoring act in the second half.  Freshman Robert Henson tallied a goal and an assist on the period's first two goals.  Marcellus Jernigan followed Henson, and Lue promptly responded with two goals in six minutes for an 11-0 lead.  Freshman Jimmy Pierce tallied the game's final goal with 5:50 remaining.

On the day, 17 different Wesleyan players recorded points with either a goal or an assist.  The Bishops out-shot the Hawks 37-2 and were called offside 20 times.  Wesleyan scored two goals off of corners.

For Chowan, Cenci and Daniel Callahan combined for nine saves.  NCWC goalies Jeff Johnson and Jeff Soares combined for the team's sixth shutout of the season.

Wesleyan travels to 17th-ranked Mary Washington on Saturday.  Game time is slated for 2:00 p.m.
