Wesleyan soccer downs Methodist on Senior Day, 2-0

Rocky Mount, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan men's soccer team remained undefeated on Saturday afternoon, downing Methodist University by a 2-0 score at Scalf Field.  Prior to the match, the Bishops honored seniors Danny Jones, Alimamy Kargbo, and Jason Bottani (all pictured).  Bottani made the day a memorable one by heading home the game-winner in the 13th minute.  NCWC is now 10-0-0 overall, 3-0-0 in USA South play.  Methodist drops to 7-4-0 on the season, 1-1-0 in league action.

Bottani's header came on a Kevin Lue cross at the 12:21 mark.  The Bishops added an insurance goal less than three minutes later when sophomore Edgar Zaldivar blasted home a Marco Kirsch free kick from 20 yards out.

The 2-0 score would hold up as NCWC goalie Alberto Faisca recorded his third shutout in goal.  Faisca faced eight shots and made three saves.  Monarch keeper Sean Brennan made five saves on 18 Bishop shots.

Wesleyan returns to action on Wednesday when the Bishops host Averett University at 4:00 p.m. in their final regular season home game.
