Bishop men enjoy offensive explosion in 12-0 shutout

Rocky Mount, NC - Playing their final regular season home game of 2007, the Battling Bishop men's soccer team exploded for six goals each half in posting a 12-0 shutout of Averett University on Wednesday at Scalf Field.  The Bishops, ranked 5th by the NSCAA and 3rd by D3Kicks.com, run their season record to 11-0-0 overall, 4-0-0 in USA South action.  Wesleyan also ups its regular season unbeaten streak to 37 games since 2005 and its regular season league unbeaten streak to 22 games since 2004.

Freshman Marco Kirsch scored what proved to be the game-winner less than four minutes into the match on an assist by Alimamy Kargbo.  After a Robert Ivanovich goal off of a Bishop corner, Kirsch added his second goal of the game in the 28th minute for a 3-0 NCWC advantage.

Luke Oakley and Kevin Lue followed with goals four and five on assists by Ivanovich and Kirsch. Ivanovich later rounded out first half scoring with his second goal of the game at the 39:26 mark.

Head coach Jason Kilby played his reserves the entire second half.  Lue managed two more goals to complete the hat trick, while brothers Mouka and Mouki Musau each tallied scores.  Tony Sciandra and Jaine Lindo scored Wesleyan's 10th and 12th goals, respectively, to secure the 12-0 final.

Freshman keeper Alberto Faisca picked up his seventh win of the season, making three saves on four shots face.  In the second half, freshmen Kevin Quicker and Kingsley Okyereh combined to complete the shutout in goal.

For Averett (4-6-0, 0-4-0), Joe Dusewicz made an impressive 19 saves on 42 Bishop shots.

Wesleyan continues USA South play on Saturday at Shenandoah University.  Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m. in Winchester, VA.
