with weekend

- The
nationally-ranked
North Carolina
Wesleyan men's
soccer team
continued its
impressive play
over the
weekend, downing
Shenandoah and
Kean by 2-0 and
3-1 scores,
respectively.
Sophomore Kevin
Lue tallied the
game-winner on
Saturday, while
freshman Marco
Kirsch
(pictured) did
the honors on
Sunday.
Wesleyan keeps
its perfect
record in tact
at 13-0-0
overall,
including a
5-0-0 mark in
USA South
Conference play.
At Shenandoah on
Saturday, the
Bishops got all
the offense they
would need when
Lue found the
back of the net
in the 38th
minute.
Wesleyan added
an insurance
goal in the
second half when
Luke Oakley
booted home a
pass from Danny
Jones.
Wesleyan
out-shot the
Hornets 21-4 on
the day, while
freshman keeper
Alberto Faisca
earned his
eighth win and
fifth shutout
between the
pipes.
On Sunday, the
Bishops traveled
to Kean
University and
took a quick 2-0
lead on goals by
senior Alimamy
Kargbo and
Kirsch.
Kirsch's goal
proved to be the
eventual
game-winner and
came in the 26th
minute of play.
Edgar Zaldivar
was credited
with the assist.
Kean managed a
score just
before the break
for a 2-1 Bishop
advantage at
halftime.
The goal broke a
streak of five
straight
Wesleyan
shutouts.
Kirsch added an
insurance goal
on a penalty
kick at the
71:45 mark to
complete the
game's scoring.
Faisca again
earned the win
and made five
saves on the
day. NCWC
out-shot KU
15-12 in the
contest.
Wesleyan will
now enjoy a
nine-day break
before returning
to action at
Guilford College
on October 16th.
Game time is
slated for 4:00
p.m. in
Greensboro.
