Kirsch's sixth game-winner keeps Bishop men perfect

Stevenson, MD - Freshman Marco Kirsch (pictured) netted his sixth game-winning goal of the season on Sunday afternoon, lifting the North Carolina Wesleyan men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory at Villa Julie College.  The Bishops, who out-shot the Mustangs 22-7 on the day, are now a perfect 15-0-0 on the season.  VJC drops to 8-8-1 overall.

Kirsh's goal was unassisted and came just 7:43 into the contest.  Though it would be all the offense the Bishops would need, senior Alimamy Kargbo added an insurance goal in the 47th minute.  Kargbo's goal, his ninth of the season, came on a keeper deflection and secured the 2-0 final.

Freshman Alberto Faisca continued his solid play by making four saves en route to his sixth shutout and 11th win in goal.  VJC goalie Eric Lowman made an impressive 12 saves on the day.

Wesleyan wraps up regular season and USA South play next Saturday with a key match-up at Christopher Newport.  Both the Bishops and Captains are 5-0 in league play.  The winner will claim the 2007 USA South Conference Championship and play host to the following weekend's conference tournament semifinals and finals.

Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Newport News.
