Bishop men open league play with 4-0 shutout of Ferrum

Ferrum, VA - The Bishop men's soccer team of North Carolina Wesleyan opened up USA South Conference play on Saturday with a 4-0 shutout of Ferrum College on the road.  Senior Alimamy Kargbo (pictured) netted two goals, including his third game-winner of the season.  Wesleyan is now 6-0-0 overall and improves its regular season league unbeaten streak to 19 games since 2004.

Kargbo got the Bishops on the board quickly with an unassisted goal just 2:34 into the match.  Marco Kirsch then booted home a Robert Ivanovich pass in the 17th minute to give Wesleyan a 2-0 lead at the break.

The second half saw senior Danny Jones tally a goal and an assist.  The assist came in the 75th minute on Kargbo's second goal, while Jones' score came on a Jason Bottani pass from the back at the 87:22 mark.

Freshman keeper Kevin Quicker earned the win in goal despite recording no saves.  Chris McDonnell and Chris Taylor combined to make 10 saves for the Panthers.  Wesleyan out-shot Ferrum 17-2 on the day.

Wesleyan continues USA South play on Wednesday against 2nd-ranked Greensboro College.  Game time is slated for 4:00 p.m. at Scalf Field.
