WEEKLY SPOTLIGHT:  Junior Lenny Hall making waves at Wesleyan and in the USA South

Rocky Mount, NC - Junior Lenny Hall (pictured) is making waves at North Carolina Wesleyan and in the USA South Conference.  The talented shooting guard has turned in three 30-point games in the Bishops' last four outings, including a career-high 38-point, 12-rebound performance this past Tuesday night in Wesleyan's 92-85 win at Christopher Newport.  For his efforts, he has been tabbed the USA South Player of the Week for January 22nd.  This is Hall’s first award of the 2006-07 season.

This past week, Hall helped the Battling Bishops to a 1-1 record by averaging 34.0 points per game on 21-of-37 shooting from the floor (56.8%).  He added 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 1.5 assists per contest. In addition to his stellar performance against CNU, Hall scored a game-high 30 points with five rebounds, three steals, and two assists in a 91-80 loss to USA South leader Greensboro on Saturday.

The 6’0” Hall currently sits atop league leaders in scoring, averaging 20.7 points per game.  Additionally, he is ranked second in free throw percentage (.827), having attempted and made more shots at the charity stripe this season than any other conference player (91-of-110).  Hall also finds himself second in steals (37), seventh in assists (46), eighth in assist/turnover ratio (0.87), and ninth in minutes played per game (31.3).

Back in Rocky Mount, Hall may find himself ranked in several career categories for the Battling Bishops before it’s all said and done. If he continues at his current pace, he will likely crack the top-ten in points, assists, steals, free throw percentage, and games played.

More importantly than individual accolades, Hall hopes to place his Battling Bishops in the top tier of USA South competition.  Wesleyan, in fact, is currently one of three teams with only one conference loss, and with three league games scheduled this week, the standings are certain to change.

Wesleyan (7-8, 2-1) will kick off this week's slate at home on Monday night when conference rival Methodist College visits Everett Gymnasium for a 7:30 p.m. contest.  Hall and his Bishops will then hit the road next Saturday and Sunday to face off against Averett and Ferrum, respectively.

An extreme competitor, however, one thing's for certain... Lenny Hall will welcome each challenge.

A Wilmington, NC native, Hall is the son of Leonard Hall, II and Valerie Troy.  He is seeking his bachelor's degree in Business Administration.
