Men's and women's basketball says farewell to senior
class

Prior to the start of
Saturday's basketball games versus Averett University,
the Battling Bishop men's and women's basketball squads,
along with head coaches John Brackett and John Thompson,
said farewell to their respective senior classes.
On the women's side, four-year seniors Liz Ansley, J.D.
Richardson, and April Wilson were recognized. For
the Bishop men, two-year lettermen Emanuel Alston and
Stephen Mobley were honored. Below is a brief
description of each player's career.
#11 J.D.
Richardson
J.D. Richardson is a four-year starter for
the Bishops and is a captain on this year’s squad. She
has scored over 600 points, knocked down over 100
three-pointers, and dished out nearly 150 assists during
her career. The daughter of William and Jennie
Richardson, J.D. is majoring in Accounting.
#34 LIZ ANSLEY
Liz Ansley is a four-year starter for the Bishops
and a captain on this year’s squad. She has scored
nearly 900 points and pulled down over 500 rebounds
during her career. Additionally, she earned
All-Conference and Most Valuable Player honors for Coach
Brackett in 2006. The daughter of Rod and Becky Ansley,
Liz is majoring in Exercise Science.
#44 APRIL WILSON
April Wilson is a four-year starter for Coach
Brackett and has served as a captain on this year’s
squad. She has averaged over ten points and six
rebounds per game during her career, while shooting a
solid 46 percent from the floor. She was named
Wesleyan’s Most Valuable Player in 2004 and
All-Conference in 2006. The daughter of Melody Wilson,
April is majoring in Justice Studies.
#24 EMANUAL ALSTON
Emanuel Alston is a two-year starter for Coach
Thompson’s Bishops after transferring from Rockingham
Community College last season. In two years, he has
scored over 300 points, pulled down over 200 rebounds,
and collected nearly 100 steals. The son of Charles,
Sr. and Marie Alston, Emanuel is majoring in Education.
#33 STEPHEN MOBLEY
Stephen Mobley is a two-year letterwinner for the
Bishops after transferring from Rockingham Community
College last season. In his two years, he has seen
action in 48 games, has scored over 150 points, and has
shot a solid 46 percent from the floor. Additionally,
he has served as team captain this season. The son
of James and Frances Mobley, Stephen is majoring in
Business Administration.
Both coaches would like to thank each of these young men
and women for the contributions they have made to the
Bishop basketball program. The Department of Athletics
wishes all five athletes the best of luck in the future.
