WEEKLY SPOTLIGHT:
Two sports... Two awards...
Two Browns
Rocky
Mount, NC - The
opening weekend of the 2006
athletic season was good for
some, but great for
others... especially for
those athletes with the last
name "Brown."
Football's Bo Brown, for
example, recorded nearly
every defensive statistic
imaginable in Saturday's
opener against Newport News
Apprentice. Soccer's
Michael Brown, on the other
hand, got the job done
offensively as the only
Bishop to tally two goals in
Wesleyan's 8-0 win over Hood
on Sunday. For their
efforts, both Browns were
named the first Players of
the Week in their respective
sports by the USA South.
A junior
from Rocky Mount and a
product of nearby Northern
Nash High School, Bo Brown
led the Wesleyan defensive
effort on Saturday with 7.5
tackles, one interception,
one sack, one forced fumble,
and one fumble recovery.
Though the Blue & Gold
suffered a heartbreaking
21-20 last-second loss to
the Builders, the talented
linebacker made it clear
that he will be a force to
reckon with over the course
of the 2006 season.
A senior
from Marietta, Georgia,
Michael Brown began his
final season with a bang as
the Bishops earned their
second straight NCWC Fall
Classic title over the
weekend. With 12
different players tallying
points in Sunday's 8-0
victory, Brown stood out as
the only Bishop to score
more than one goal, marking
the first time in his
collegiate career he
accomplished the feat.
Congratulations to both
athletes on their stellar
performances!
