Saari earns third USA South Rookie of the Week award

Fayetteville, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that freshman Antti Saari of men's tennis has earned his third USA South Rookie of the Week award. Saari (pictured) led his Battling Bishops to two USA South victories last week, helping Wesleyan even its season record at 6-6 overall. More importantly, the Battling Bishops improved to 3-1 in league play.

The Lahti, Finland native was 2-1 at #1 singles and 1-2 at #1 doubles last week for the Bishops. Unfortunately, Saari suffered his first singles defeat against Christopher Newport, but he rebounded to pick up key wins over the top players from Averett and Greensboro.

In doubles action, Saari teamed with Brandon Coleman to defeat Greensboro. He is now 10-1 in singles play and 8-3 in doubles play this season.

Congratulations Antti!
