Three Battling Bishop
athletes earn weekly
soccer honors

- The North Carolina
Wesleyan Department
of Athletics is
pleased to announce
that sophomores
Kevin Lue and
Meredith Hester,
along with freshman
Marco Kirsch, have
earned USA South
weekly honors.
Lue and Hester were
named Players of the
Week in men's and
women's soccer,
while Kirsch was
tabbed Rookie of the
Week.

The sophomore
forward from
Abidjan, Ivory Coast
scored four goals
during a 3-0 week
for the Bishops. In
a 12-0 win over USA
South foe Averett,
he tallied his third
hat trick of the
season with three
scores, tallying
Wesleyan's fifth,
seventh, and ninth
goals of the game.
In a 2-0 win over
USA South rival
Shenandoah, Lue
scored the eventual
game-winning goal in
the 38th minute. He
currently leads the
undefeated and
nationally-ranked
Bishops with 12
goals on the season.
Hester
(right) earns her
first Player of the
Week award in
women's soccer after
being tabbed Rookie
of the Week on three
occasions last
season. The
Reston, Virginia
sophomore forward
scored four goals
and added one assist
for nine points in a
2-0 week for the
Bishops. In a 7-2
win over USA South
foe Mary Baldwin,
Hester tallied a hat
trick with three
goals while adding
an assist on the
game-winner. In a
3-0 win over USA
South rival
Shenandoah, Hester
completed Wesleyan's
scoring with a goal
in the 89th minute.
She currently leads
the Bishops with 19
points on the season
(8 goals, 3
assists).
Kirsch
(left) picks up his
fourth Rookie of the
Week award this
season. The
freshman midfielder
from Celle, Germany
scored four goals
and added one assist
over the past seven
days. In a 12-0 win
over USA South foe
Averett, Kirsch
scored two goals,
including the
game-winner, while
also adding an
assist. In a 2-0 win
over USA South rival
Shenandoah, Kirsch
was held scoreless
but did manage to
get off five shots.
Finally, in a 3-1
win over Kean,
Kirsch tallied two
goals, including the
game-winner. He
currently leads the
Bishops with 34
points on the season
(11 goals, 12
assists).
