Wesleyan's Murray tabbed USA South Rookie of the Week

Fayetteville, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that freshman forward Alex Murray of men's basketball has been tabbed the USA South's Rookie of the Week for February 9th. Murray, who earns his second award of the season, helped Wesleyan to a 102-98 overtime win at Shenandoah on Saturday. The Bishops are currently 14-6 overall, 4-3 in the USA South.

Murray (pictured) earns Rookie of the Week accolades for the second time in his career. The Fayetteville, NC native led the Battling Bishops to their third league win by grabbing a game-high nine rebounds and scoring seven points. He also dished out one assist, collected one steal, and blocked one shot in the victory.

Currently averaging six points and seven rebounds per contest, Murray leads the team with 37 steals and 26 blocked shots. He will lead his team into battle on Wednesday night when the Bishops host Christopher Newport at 7:30 p.m.  The Captains currently sit atop the league standings with a 6-1 conference mark.
